Jason D. Norman is a 41-year-old police officer in Indianapolis. According to court records, he is accused of beating his wife so severely that her eye was ‘coming out of its socket’. Because of the nature of the crime, he was brought in on several charges, including criminal confinement and felony domestic battery. It all happened after he allegedly abused his wife physically on a number of occasions, according to court records cited in the Indianapolis Star. His wife lost her right eye in February but couldn’t remember details of the event. She did talk about her broken nose and bruises on her legs that her husband caused during other beatings.
According to the probable cause affidavit, there is not much information on what took place when Norman, a 14-year veteran with the PD allegedly beat his wife on February 25. A call came in from his home, reporting that his wife was exiting the bathtub and had fallen. Norman was not charged with the injury and he had told the dispatcher that her eye was ‘coming out of its socket’. His wife would have surgery but a week later, she claims to not remember any ‘salient details’.
Will he be called a thug? Will his past be dug up? Will his parents be called into question? Was he beaten before taken into custody? Will he spend the rest of his life in jail?

She did say that her husband had abused her over a 2-year period, including one last summer that caused her to leave and give him a chance to ‘cool off’. He didn’t allow her to leave and court records show that he used his squad car to block the garage.
In August of last year, she said he grabbed her legs and pulled her from the sofa. It seems that she said something to offend him while he watched a ‘political show’. He then reportedly told her to “Just walk it off; it’s gonna be fine. You’re going to be fine.”
IPD Chief Randal Taylor feels that Norman should be fired. Currently, he is on unpaid leave, according to WTHR.
“No chief wants to be faced with the prospect of arresting their own officer, but law enforcement has a responsibility to do what is right and a sworn duty to protect our community,” Taylor’s statement read.
This man seems to be a dangerous individual and hopefully, justice will be served.
