Although we may see actors playing many different roles in numerous movies, there are certain actors that just seem to stand out among the rest. One of those is Morgan Freeman, who is more than just an actor that we see on the screen, he’s an entertainer that seems to keep us on the edge of our seat in action flicks or laughing in comedies. He has a lot of energy, which is interesting, considering the fact that he turned 83 years old on June 1. That’s right, now the ‘Driving Miss Daisy’ star is likely older than the woman he was driving in the movie.
Most of us are familiar with some of Morgan Freeman’s bigger roles, such as ‘Million-Dollar Baby’, ‘Shawshank Redemption’, or ‘Street Smart’. He even won an Academy award in 2005 for playing in one of those movies. What might surprise you is that Morgan Freeman is not only famous for his movies but he actually played on a children’s show back in the 1970s, ‘The Electric Company’. If I stopped to name all of the different movies that he was in, it would be difficult to finish this article. His amazing deep voice has won him parts in numerous movies as well as many voice actor jobs as well.
Back in the 1960s, Morgan Freeman was getting his start but it wasn’t as an actor, it was a dancer at the 1964 world’s fair. He also was in a theater group, ‘Opera Ring’ in San Francisco before he got his start acting. Some of the acting that he did was in the 1965 film, ‘The Pawnbroker’, as well as playing in an off-Broadway show in 1967.
In 1968, Morgan Freeman was on Broadway for a debut in an all-black version of Hello Dolly.
His first credited film appearance was in 1971 in the film, ‘Who Says I Can’t Ride a Rainbow’.
Did you know he was an Air Force veteran?
He is also a grandfather!
In the early days, he was on the soap opera, ‘Another World’. It seems that he was capable of anything.
